PTC series engine heater - universal with a connector diameter of 16mm
The PTC series engine heater supplied by DEFA is suitable for both liquid and air-cooled engines with a small or large volume of coolant. Our range includes heaters for passenger cars, vans, trucks, agricultural tractors and stationary engines. There are nine series of heaters distinguished depending on the method of their installation. The engine heater of PTC series with the number 412761 can be used universally in delivery vans, passenger cars, boats, motorhomes, etc.
The DEFA engine heater warms the engine efficiently and effectively. Most of the heaters are mounted in such a way that the heating element is in direct contact with the coolant and ensures its slow circulation.
The product is protected by a fusible element that burns out when the temperature rises too high. Burnout can be caused by:
- Coolant level too low (heating element is in contact with air).
- Air pocket around heating element (heating element is in contact with air).
- Dirty or contaminated coolant forming an insulating layer (limescale) around the heating element, blocking heat conduction.
The PTC series engine heater can heat the coolant to about 50 ° C above the outside temperature, depending on where the heater is installed and the capacity of the cooling system.
The optimal operating time depends on the outside temperature. After 3 hours at -17 ° C, the system reaches thermal equilibrium, which means that the energy supplied after this time only serves to maintain the temperature. The extra heat is radiated to the outside. The DEFA engine heater can remain connected to the power source without the risk of damaging the heating element, however this will only use unnecessary electric power.
